COUNCILLOR RICK CROUCH'S WARD 10 BRIEFING

• ELECTION POSTERS
  You may have noticed all the ANC election posters down the middle of Old Main Road in Hillcrest. These are all illegal posters as are the ones on anything but a light pole, even on telephone poles are illegal I have formally complained to the municipality and they have assured me they have notified the ANC and requested that they be removed. If you would like to complain you can send your email to Lihle Phewe and copy to me.

• SPECIAL VOTES
  A special vote allows a registered voter, who can't vote at their voting station on Election Day, to apply to vote on a predetermined day before Election Day. If you know anyone who is ill or infirm and cannot get to the voting station on 18th May please call me immediately and I will bring a registration form for a special vote. The IEC will then come to you on 17th May in order for you to place your vote. The deadline is Saturday 30th April at 2pm.

• BLANKETS
  With the cold weather approaching I am collecting blankets for the indigent in our Ward to help them keep warm this winter. If you have any gently used blankets, or would like to donate a new one, please let me know so that I can collect them.

• CHILDRENS BOOKS
  I will be making a donation of children's / school books to the Gillitts Primary School in Stockville [events schedule] If you have any children's books at home that you no longer need please contact me so that I can collect them.

• WEBSITE
  Please refer to my website regularly as it is updated on a daily basis with municipal and DA news that may effect you in Ward 10 [website]

• STREET PRESENCE
  We will be having blue wave presence events a few times a week until the election, we would like as many supporters as possible to attend for a show of force, these events only last for an hour. Please check my activity schedule for dates and times. [events schedule]

• INFORMATION TABLES
  We have three (3) Information Tables scheduled for Ward 10 that will take place before the election, if anyone would like to spend 30 minutes or more assisting me at the table, talking to voters, handing out literature etc please let me know. All these tables will take place at Fields Centre in Kloof. Please check my activity schedule for dates and times. [events schedule]

• COUNCILLOR / CANDIDATE COFFEE
  This is basically a small gathering of friends and / or neighbors (10 - 20 people) at a house in the neighborhood. It can take many forms; a coffee, a pizza and beer, a braai, any format that suits you. It gives a small group of people who know each other intimate access to the candidate / councillor. If anyone would like to host one please let me know

• PARTY AGENTS
  A big thank you from me to all those of you who have volunteered to be party agents on either 16 or 18 May. I am still looking for a few more volunteers for the manning of the voting stations in Ward 10 on both the special vote day (16th May 2011) and Election Day (18th May 2011)

• TELECANVASING OF VOTERS
  If you have some time during the day, evening or week-end and can assist in canvassing voters please let me know as we still have a way to go. There will be no cost to you or your phone bill.
