  VEMA is believed to be the first totally voluntary 1st response unit of its kind in South Africa. As a 1st response unit the VEMA members respond to any medical emergency call and stabilise the patients prior to the arrival of an ambulance. VEMA is autonomous of all emergency services and other organisations.

• KEEP KLOOF BEAUTIFUL ASSOCIATION
  To ensure that the aesthetics of Kloof are maintained, volunteer residents meet to tackle projects such as litter, graffiti, beautification of the CBD including the railway line area; anything that in fact contributes to halting the deterioration and overall impression of the area which in turn affects property values.
  
  Residents are encouraged to support them and get involved to some degree, and go on their website to see where they can serve their community via this vehicle, and to sign up to receive their quarterly Friends of KKBA newsletter.
